Google rolled out yet another URL shortener G.co, this time it’s an exclusive URL shortener for Google products. It’s easy to share a shortened URL but on the other side we are not sure of the destination at which we may land. “You can visit a g.co shortcut confident you will always end up at a page for a Google product or service” Google explains. So with G.co we are sure that we are ending at some Google product.
Google still reminds us about their goo.gl, a public URL shortener by Google from 2009 using which you can shrink up the long URLs. As already Twitter has acquired T.co as its super short domain to protect its users from harmful activity and similarly Amazon grabbed A.Co, Z.Co, K.Co and Cloud.Co domains, it’s an obvious step from Google obtaining G.co domain.
With the reign of Google plus, Google might have planned this URL shortener also for the google plus profiles.
